Welcome to Buttercream Blonde!

jkredoneI was sitting on the couch late one Friday night watching a YouTube video of Adele on Carpool Karaoke, when I realized I was tired of not having any hobbies. If Adele can sing, I can cook. I turned to my husband and told him I was starting a blog and we haven’t looked back.

I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area where I was surrounded by delicious food, but if it wasn’t pasta or sweet, I wasn’t having it. It wasn’t until college that I gained a deep appreciation for food. My roommate and I needed to pick a minor so we both chose Culinary Arts thinking it would be easy. It wasn’t. It was probably the hardest minor we could have chosen. I easily spent more hours studying Culinary Arts than I did for my major, which was Communication. But I loved it. Every single second. My heart sometimes aches to go back to that kitchen in my white coat and start making candy or perfecting steak (which I never did, my steaks are dog food).

I hope to share some of my favorite recipes and my love of food with you and tips and tricks along the way. One thing I am not is a photographer. All these other bloggers talk about how much they like taking pictures, while I just… don’t. I try, but dang it, it’s just not my thing.

A little about my family – I was married in 2009 in Oakland California to my husband Jacob. Jacob will be chiming in every once in a while on the blog.  Our son Z joined us in 2011 and we welcomed our baby girl S in 2014. We are currently loving life in Idaho. When I am not in the kitchen, you can find me in a Zumba class (I’m easy to find, the clown in the back), chauffeuring, refereeing, and negotiating with my kids, or hiding in a locked closet, eating chocolate.
